Great news for gamers who want to connect with their friends while playing on their PS5 – the beta version of Discord on PS5 is now live for testing! If you’re one of the lucky few who have been selected to try out the new integration, you can now join voice chats directly from your PS5.
However, if you haven’t been selected for the beta testing, don’t worry! In this guide, we will show you how to access Discord on PS5, whether you’re part of the beta testing or not. Expect a fully functioning Discord app for everyone in the coming weeks.
So, no need to worry. Whoever you are, you’ll be able to use Discord on PS5 today. First up, let’s see how to use the Discord beta version. Be sure to scroll down further to find the non-beta method.

Installing Discord On PS5 (beta method)
- Make sure your PS5 is connected to the internet.
- On your PS5, go to the Settings menu and select “Users and Accounts.”
- Under “Users and Accounts,” select “Link with Other Services.”
- Select “Discord” from the list of services.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to log in to your Discord account.
- Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see a prompt to “Link Discord with PlayStation Network.” Select “Link Accounts” to continue.
- After linking your accounts, you’ll be prompted to download the Discord app. Select “Download” to start the download.
- Once the download is complete, open the Discord app on your PS5 and log in to your account.
- You’re now ready to start using Discord on your PS5!
Note that this is a beta method, and the experience may not be as smooth as using Discord on a PC or mobile device. Additionally, some features may not be available on the PS5 version of Discord.
Installing Discord On Your PS5 (Non-beta method)

- On your PS5, go to the PlayStation Store.
- Search for “Discord” using the search bar.

- Once the download is complete, open the Discord app on your PS5 and log in to your account.

Note that the non-beta method may provide a smoother experience than the beta method. However, the PS5 version of Discord may not have all the features available on the PC or mobile versions of the app.
Set up your MixAmp
In order to set up audio on your PS5, you will to purchase some external hardware. We recommend using MixAmp and a ground loop noise isolator. First thing you will want to do is to turn on the MixAmp and set it to console mode. Next, connect your ground loop noise isolator to an aux port onto the device.
- Turn on your MixAmp and set it to “console mode.” This mode allows the MixAmp to work with your PS5.
- Connect the USB cable from the MixAmp to your PS5. This will provide power to the MixAmp.
- Connect the optical audio cable from the PS5 to the MixAmp. This will provide high-quality audio to the MixAmp.
- Connect your headphones to the MixAmp using the 3.5mm audio cable or use the MixAmp’s built-in wireless capabilities if applicable.
- Connect a ground loop noise isolator to an available aux port on the MixAmp to reduce any electrical interference or buzzing noise.
- Use the dials on the MixAmp to adjust the game audio and chat audio levels to your preference.
- Test your audio settings by listening to some music or playing a game. Adjust the audio levels as necessary.
Note that the exact steps to set up your MixAmp may vary depending on the model you have. Therefore, be sure to refer to the user manual that came with your MixAmp for specific instructions.
Set up Dual Audio
Having your MixAmp set up also comes with an annoying limitation. You can’t hear your game and your voice stream at the same time. To solve this, we will need to set up dual audio.
here are the steps to set up dual audio:
- On your PS5, go to “Settings” and select “Sound.”
- Under “Output,” select “HDMI Out.”
- Under “Format,” select “Linear PCM.”
- Connect an HDMI cable from your PS5 to your TV or monitor.
- Then Connect an optical audio cable from your PS5 to your MixAmp.
- After that Connect a 3.5mm audio cable from your MixAmp to your streaming PC or laptop.
- On your streaming PC or laptop, go to “Settings” and select “Sound.”
- Under “Output,” select the audio device that corresponds to the MixAmp.
- Launch your streaming software (e.g. OBS) and set up your audio sources.
- Add the audio input source from the MixAmp to your streaming software.
- Test your audio settings by playing a game and streaming your voice at the same time.
